The Indian subsidiary has steadily grown to be a major player in the Indian market whether it is the Municipal or the Industrial sector and has been successfully working in countries like Thailand, Srilanka, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Kazakhstan. The recently commissioned Chembarambbakam plant with a capacity to treat 530 Million Litres of water per day is the second largest single stage plant in the country after 635 MLD Sonia Vihar Water Treatment Plant which caters to the water requirement of 30% population of Delhi.
Degrémont has recently bagged two major contracts in the city of Mumbai and Delhi. When built the 900 MLD Bhandup Plant would be the biggest Drinking Water Treatment Plant in the country and will cater to water requirements of more than 4 million inhabitants of Mumbai. The 120 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant at Okhla aims to treat the quality of River Yamuna and the Biogas produced from the plant will run gas engines which would make the plant almost energy self sufficient.
Degrémont plants in India today treat about 1.8 billion liters of drinking water, about 500 million liters of sewage water and more than 100 million liters of recycled water per day. Degrémont is also the leading O & M player in the Municipal market.
